A surf trip normally means buying a forecast and hoping. Here the variable is removed: you book a 55-minute slot and every wave in it arrives at the height and interval the operator dialled in.

For a travelling surfer that changes the arithmetic. Five days on a coastline might give you two good ones. Five days at Adrena gives you five sessions you can plan flights around — and enough repetition to actually move your surfing forward rather than just maintain it.

Beginners get the same benefit in reverse: the first wave you ever stand on is the same as the hundredth, in shallow, calm water, with an instructor beside you.

Step 2 — where you sleep

Stay & surf at Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay Resort sits on the same stretch of Red Sea coast, minutes from the lagoon and served by the same airport. Guests staying there get a discounted resort rate through Adrena — tell us your dates and we'll put the whole trip together in one reply.

Step 3 — the practical part

Flying in from abroad

The questions every international surfer asks before booking a flight to a country they haven't surfed in.

Getting here

Red Sea International

RSI is the destination's own airport, roughly 30 minutes from the lagoon, with connections through Riyadh and Jeddah. Turtle Bay is on the same coast, between Al Wajh and Umluj. We arrange transfers both ways — there is no parking on site, so everyone arrives by transfer regardless.

Entry

Visas

Most European, UK, US and Australian passport holders, plus GCC residents, can apply for the Saudi eVisa online in a few minutes. Check your nationality and current requirements at visa.visitsaudi.com before booking flights.

Season

When to come

The lagoon runs daily, year round, 10:00 to 18:00 — the wave never depends on the season. October to April gives you comfortable air temperatures for a full day in and out of the water; summer is hot, so surfers tend to take early and late slots.

Kit

What to bring

Boardshorts or a swimsuit is enough most of the year; a 2 mm top is nice in midwinter. Soft-tops are included and you're welcome to bring your own board. One thing people get caught by: closed-toe shoes are required for the zipline, ropes course and climbing wall, so pack trainers.

Money

Paying for things

Everything is charged in Saudi Riyal, pegged at 3.75 to the US dollar. Cards work everywhere on site. Surf and admission vouchers stay valid for three months from purchase, so you can book before your flights are locked in.

Bringing people

Non-surfers and families

A surf session is one hour of a full day. Everyone on your booking gets the same park access — snorkelling, wakeboarding, cliff diving, the overwater zipline, the pump track and the beach club — so partners and kids who don't surf still have a day, and juniors under 1.2 m have their own pass.

Included with every session

Twenty-four things to do between sets

Adrena covers the equivalent of sixteen football fields. Your surf slot is 55 minutes of it.

Before you book

Straight answers

Do I need to buy park admission as well as the surf session?

The session prices on this page are the full day price — surf session plus full-day access to Adrena's attractions, bundled. If you book the surf session on its own through the ticketing portal, admission is added as a separate line, which works out higher. Book the day, not the hour.

What level do I need to be?

None for First Timer or the Learn to Surf Programme — those are fully coached, in shallow calm water, with the instructor in the lagoon with you. Split Peak suits you once you're catching unbroken waves. Single Peak is for surfers who can already ride a wall and turn.

Wave settings are allocated by the booking system based on the level you declare. If a surfer can't safely manage the setting they've booked, they're moved to a more suitable session on the day.

How long is a session, and how many waves do I get?

Sessions run 60 minutes: a 5-minute safety briefing, then 55 minutes in the water. Wave count depends on the setting and how many surfers are sharing the lagoon — the shorter the ride, the more waves come round. Arrive 15 minutes before your slot.

Can I bring my own board?

Yes, at no charge. A soft-top is included in every session, and hard-top performance boards rent at SAR 85 per session if you'd rather not fly with yours.

Is it really seawater?

Yes. Seawater is drawn from the Red Sea, filtered, circulated through the lagoon and returned to the sea filtered, on a closed loop. It tastes and feels like the ocean, without the chlorine.

How does the Turtle Bay discount work?

Turtle Bay Resort offers Adrena guests a reduced room rate. Send us your dates through the form below and you'll get one quote covering the room, the surf sessions and transfers — you don't have to price three things separately and hope they line up.

Can I book now and travel later?

Surf and admission vouchers are valid for three months from the date of purchase, so you can secure your sessions before your flights are final. Unused vouchers expire after that period.

Who do I talk to about a group or team trip?

Use the enquiry form, or email guestservice@adrena.sa directly. Groups of eight or more get private wave settings and a custom session programme.
